Fauxionable Outfit – Burgundy/Oxblood Sweater & H&M Coupon

I wore this outfit some weekends ago to run errands and just realized that I didn’t get around to posting it. I absolutely love this H&M sweater and it’s the only piece of clothing I’ve bought during my clothing ban to replace an older sweater. I had a coupon and scored it for only $9! It is made of 90% acrylic (yes, I know it’s material to be avoided but I plan on dry cleaning it) and 10% mohair and definitely keeps me warm and cozy!

I would also like to share this H&M coupon for 20% off that I just received in my inbox. Perhaps you’d like to snag one of these sweaters or use it for a gift. Either way, happy shopping! 🙂

Travel – Fall Vacation: Paris Shopping

I am still in the midst of editing and sorting out most of the pics for Paris, so I thought I’d start with the smallest batch first, which happens to be shopping-related! We arrived early on Friday morning and since we couldn’t check in to the AirBnB apartment that we rented till 2pm, we decided to hit the stores. The apartment owner was however kind enough to let us leave our luggage with him upon arrival and until the apartment was ready for us.

My parents and my sister had previously spent a day in Paris prior to flying into the U.S. so, I was to be brought up to speed by going to the places that they’d already went to. Printemps and Champs-Élysées was where for me to start my first day in Paris. We also went to Rue Saint-Honoré where we paid homage to Hermes, YSL, and Cartier but I didn’t take any pics as it was mostly rainy. In fact, throughout our vacation it was rainy and cold in both New York and Paris! (WARNING: Picture heavy post!)

Yayoi Kusama’s model looked eerily real!

It was a day of window-shopping for me while my sister walked out of YSL with the bag that she’d been coveting for almost two years, the Muse II. Also, looking back at these pics, it’s somewhat ironic that I have whole bunch of pics of LV when I do not covet any of their items with the exception of a few items from the Sofia Coppola collection!

In any case, I will post more on Paris as soon as I have more pics sorted and edited. Have a great week ahead! 🙂

Fauxionable Outfit – Flyaway Friday!

Today was slightly warmer than the past couple of days, so here’s an outfit post where I’m not all bundled up, and just wanna hide under the covers!

Fauxionable Outfit - Flyaway Friday

Fauxionable Outfit - Flyaway Friday!

I centered this outfit around the teal wool cape-like vest sweater that my sister bought for me. (Cape = fly, thus the title of my post, get it?) My lovely sister has a habit of buying clothes for me and she gave this to me during her visit recently. (The last time I went home, she had a stack of clothes that she bought just for me from all her travels. Do I have the best sister or what?!)

While I might not have purchased this for myself (I tend to shy-away from trends), I enjoy pairing it with what I have and have paired it with multiple outfits in the past week! I love the buckle on the neck which lends an equestrian style to it and teal compliments my skin tone well. This has quickly become a favorite item for me this Fall (which feels very much like Winter already!) and I foresee myself wearing it a lot!

Do you have any cape-like garments in your wardrobe? How do you style them?

In any case, Happy Friday!

Fauxionable Outfit – What to Wear Where: Arts Night Out

I enjoy I Pick Pretty and Forever 29‘s What to Wear Where editions and I was a little upset with myself for not being able to partake in the Travel Outfit and the Date Night edition. I had taken pics for the Travel Outfit edition but forgot my laptop at home the night before I left for New York, as I stayed over at G’s since his apartment is closer to the airport. He was very sweet to return to my room to pick up my laptop but comically, he couldn’t find it as he was looking for it in the wrong bag! (no, I don’t have THAT many bags!)

Anyway, I’m back to blogging with an outfit for this week’s Arts Night Out edition hosted by Pancakes & Beet Juice. Here’s an outfit I’d wear to an Arts Night Out, be it to the art gallery, museum or theater…

I originally thought about pairing the outfit with my Cole Haan Violet Air Oxford booties here but decided to go with the tall boots instead for a more casual look. What do you think? Booties or tall boots?

The Most Searched For Handbag Brands

According to the Luxury Society, handbags have become one of the most coveted items in luxury goods market.  The top 10 most searched handbag brands are as follows:

Top 10 Most Searched for Handbag Brands 2012

Quite frankly, I have to say that I am appalled that Coach is ranked no. 1 but at the same time, I can see how that is the case. While not entirely in the luxury category, it is still at a higher price point than regular bags, making it more “affordable” to those who covet to own a designer piece. Let’s just say I am not a fan of their bags even though the Fall/Winter 2012’s return to Legacy collection is a much better line than their monogram collection. (I am not a fan of monogram anything for the most part and tend to shy away from purchasing anything of that nature.)

Of the top 10 brands, I was expecting Hermes to be ranked higher and a little surprised that Celine didn’t make it to the list. The scarcity of the Luggage totes and Phantom bags has most fashionistas on waiting lists much like Hermes! I am not one of them though, as I am happy and content with my current capsule collection of bags. In fact, I just added one from one of the top 3. Can you guess which? (I will likely do a reveal when I receive it!)

Do you own any bags from the top 10 brands?

Hermes Bracelets in Leather

Well, thanks to my sis’ prodding yesterday, I went to Hermes to check out their bracelets. Today I had fun play pretend as a snob who can afford luxury goods at retail prices. My first stop was at Cartier to try the Trinity ring for my size followed by Chanel in Neiman Marcus. As I predicted, nothing called to me in Chanel. It was dismal and off I went to Hermes under the same roof.

I had the sales associate who was super patient bring out 3 leather bracelets for me to try. She was on the phone and the only sales associate in the store and there was a mad crowd in the store! She was fantastic and if I could afford luxury goods at retail prices from Hermes, I would totally purchase from her. Two thumbs up for her customer service!

The leather bracelets I tried on are as follows:

Rush bracelet

Rivale bracelet

I actually also tried on the Kelly Dog bracelet which fit perfectly on my tiny wrist but I can’t find proper stock pictures of it like the other two above. Utilize the power of Google if you are curious! Heh.

Of the three that I tried on, I like the Rush and Rivale bracelets. Upon returning home from my adventure, I tried to find other Hermes bracelets and I think I really like the Kelly Double Tour.

I think I just found another item to add to my list of classics. What, you ask? Well, none other than the Hermes Kelly Double tour bracelet, of course. *wink* It will be in orange or oak brown (as pictured in the Rush above) with palladium/silver hardware. Heh.

p/s: I have yet to hear back from my bro (I emailed him pics of the Longines watch and Cartier ring) if the items I picked is breaking his bank. If they are, an Hermes bracelet it is!
